Starting a new hobby can be costly. That’s where entering sweepstakes is different. You can make money instead of spending it. Here’s what you need to know to start winning frugally.

What do you need to start winning? Great news, you probably already have everything you need. Almost any phone, tablet, or computer could work. Data or an internet connection is necessary since nearly all sweepstakes, instant win games, and contests are online. You’ll also need a physical address where your prizes will be shipped, P O Boxes won’t work. Of course, you need to be able to find ways to enter. I’ve got you covered there.
I use my phone to enter sweepstakes when I’m out and about. If I’m a passenger in the car and hear about a sweepstakes on the radio I will grab my phone and enter immediately. When grocery shopping, I look for sweepstakes all over but the beer and chip aisle is where I find the most. When I find one I take pictures with my phone and/or scan a QR code and enter right away. Any modern smartphone should do the trick.
My preferred way to enter daily sweepstakes is my Chromebook. I like the big screen and using the keyboard. Mine is a few years old now but here is an Asus Chromebook that is similar.

- Affordable. Chromebooks are much cheaper than Windows laptops.
- Autofill. Chrome will automatically store your passwords and demographic information. When asked to fill out your name and address it will auto-fill for you. This will save you a ton of time!
- Lightweight. I wanted something light enough to easily carry around and use on my lap for a long time.
- Long battery life. I need a long battery life. I never have to be tied down and plugged in. Road trips are not a problem with this Chromebook. I can be online while my husband drives and plug in at the hotel while we sleep.
- Fast! My old Windows computer was so slow and always seemed to be updating at the most inconvenient times. The Chromebook turns on when you open the screen and is ready to start browsing the web!
- Tablet mode. It flips around to use as a tablet. I use this feature the most while making a new recipe and can stand the Chromebook upright in the kitchen.
I’m old school and can’t seem to use the trackpad as efficiently as the mouse. You can use the trackpad or any mouse. I use this Bluetooth rechargeable Logitech mouse. There are no cords, I don’t have to pack batteries, and it uses the same charger as the Chromebook and my phone. It also seems to work on just about any surface which is great because I take it everywhere.
